BlenderDMX Addon 1.1.0 Released

Big MVR-xchange update and many quality of life improvements

MVR-xchange support has been redesigned to follow the MVR Spec more closely, given the fact that BlenderDMX Addon does not export MVR files, making it a data consumer only at this point. LiveDMX view has been optimized and it can now show DMX values realtime without delay. Fixture add/edit has been improved to allow incrementing (or not) fixture IDs and addresses. BlenderDMX Addon now creates a log file for easier reporting.

Gobo support 🎉

After much of trials and research, initial gobo support has been added. For rotation, the Blender Animation player must be in the Play state. Gobos from GDTF are utilized, these can be indexed and continuously rotated. Makers: you can now be creative and add for example iris support.

New Fixture list and editing, Improved Universe and Network Protocols settings

Setting up Network protocols like Art-Net could sometimes be challenging, this release is improving the setting process by providing more helpful messages, better error and timeout handling. The Fixture list has been re-done by using Blender’s scrolling list which offers better user experience, in-place editing, filtering and so on.

MVR-xchange Protocol added

MVR-xchange is a way to transfer MVR scene files between various software over network. BlenderDMX Addon is adding the local mDNS discovery and TCP transmission.

Network improvements, OpenSoundControl addition, MVR re-import and much more

Several quality of life improvements have been added, like improved fixture editing, dynamic list of network interfaces or added support for MVR re-import (this is huge - now we re-import an MVR scene with changes from other parties). Integration with consoles via OpenSoundControl protocol now sends the fixture selection to a console. Selected fixtures can now be jumped previous/next with Control-Left/Control-Right keyboard keys. Pixel color control bug fix plus a bunch of other features

Originally a bug fix for pixel devices color control, this release brings other improvements like support for devices without tilt, 16bit channels or additional Color picker in the Programmer. But a whole lot of work on other features went into this release, see the change log for more details.

Faster MVR imports, 2D planning view, improved 3D models loading

This version comes with added Blender 4.x compatibility, although Blender 3.6 is still much faster and thus recommended to be used. Speaking of speed…MVR import has been much sped up, there is a new 2D view which is using SVG from GDTF (if provided and if not provided it adds a default symbol). Many improvements to MVR import, to 3D models import and also to the overall app. Added support for XYZ fixtures.

Problem with localized Blender when applying material to the volumetric beams should be solved. MVR import has been much improved - previously missing objects are now being imported, textures for 3D objects are now extracted from the MVR and are used with the 3D files. GDTF import has been made more resilient. Fixture profiles management has been improved together with added support for importing GDTF files from GDTF Share ( https://gdtf-share.com ). To use this feature, register an account on the GDTF Share site and set these credentials in Blender-DMX addon preferences, see small manual here.
